    Dotting the landscape in and around Savannah, Georgia’s coastal city provides year-around adventure activities and events. The Historic City’s urban adventures include bird watching, power walking, cycling and photography.

    The entrance and gift shop to Fort Jackson is the former pre-World War I Tybee Train Depot, built in 1888 to mark the beginning of the train line between Savannah and Tybee Island. It had to be hauled by truck then moved down Savannah River by barge to its present location at Fort Jackson in 1988. The depot was the departure point for train rides to Tybee Island between 1887 and 1933.

    The “Central of Georgia Depot and Train Shed” now serves at the Savannah Convention and Visitors Center.
